Professional Development Credit and Hours

Confirming credit eligibility

Acceptance of NBEA education programs for professional credit varies by jurisdiction and school or employer. Before enrolling, ask your principal or another authorized administrator whether a specific NBEA program will meet your requirements.

NBEA has obtained official approval from the following jurisdictions:

Pennsylvania Department of Education
. Participants in Pennsylvania should still confirm that the program they select meets their individual requirements.

How NBEA reports learning time

Jurisdictions use different terms and rules for continuing education, including continuing education units (CEUs) and continuing professional development (CPD). NBEA uses Professional Development Hours (PDH) as a consistent way to report learning time across its education programs.

Under NBEA policy, one Professional Development Hour equals 60 minutes of instruction and/or eligible course activities. NBEA applies this calculation consistently across its courses. Your jurisdiction, school, or employer determines whether and how those hours count toward your professional credit requirements.
