Tell a Friend About This EventTell a Friend

Business simulations are a great way for instructors to help students better understand and use the business principles they teach. In this seminar, we’ll go over a selection of typical business concepts that are covered in a standard “intro to business” class and show how these concepts come to life when “running a small business” through the simulation! This webinar is FREE to NBEA Members. There is a $39.00 fee for non-members.

Business simulations are a great way for instructors to help students better understand and use the business principles they teach. In this seminar, we’ll go over a selection of typical business concepts that are covered in a standard “intro to business” class and show how these concepts come to life when “running a small business” through the simulation! We’ll go over calculating break-even, determining price of your product, scheduling staff for coverage, and wrestling with ethical situations. Using a combination of the simulation and assignments, instructors can ground their lectures for their students in practical, real life applications. We’ll also talk about integrating the simulation into your curriculum with some practical examples of how this has been done with some of our customers. We’ll also discuss both active play can be done synchronously or asynchronously, “in class”, online or in-person. From this seminar, we hope you’ll walk away with: 1. An understanding of how simulations can be used through many of your business classes to ground the principles you teach, 2. Practical examples of how this has worked for other instructors, 3. An understanding of how this technology can help you adapt to online if you are required to do so!
